New molecular mechanisms related to drug resistance in tuberculosis

چکیده
Despite the global efforts tuberculosis (TB) remains as one of most important infectious disease and with greatest impact on public health, this situation has been aggravated in recent decades by growing problem drug resistance (DR). Such is resistant that would threaten Millennium Development Goals. In addition to polymorphisms genes associated tuberculosis, new mechanisms have being described years. Considering above, aim mini-review give a brief description traditional related describe two will an next future; efflux pumps DNA damage repair mechanisms.

Molecular mechanisms of drug resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
In spite of forty years of effective chemotherapy for tuberculosis, the molecular mechanisms of antibacterial compounds in Mycobacterium tuberculosis have only recently been revealed. Broad spectrum antibacterials, including streptomycin, rifampicin, and fluoroquinolones have been demonstrated to act on the same targets in M. tuberculosis as they do in E. coli. Resistance to these agents result...

Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the leading public health problems worldwide. Declared as a global emergency in 1993 by the WHO, its control is hampered by the emergence of multidrug resistance (MDR), defined as resistance to at least rifampicin and isoniazid, two key drugs in the treatment of the disease. More recently, severe forms of drug resistance such as extensively drug-resistant (XDR) ...

Tuberculosis (TB) is a serious public health problem worldwide. Its situation is worsened by the presence of multidrug resistant (MDR) strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the causative agent of the disease. In recent years, even more serious forms of drug resistance have been reported. A better knowledge of the mechanisms of drug resistance of M. tuberculosis and the relevant molecular mecha...
متن کاملTargeting Drug Resistance Mechanisms in Mycobacterium tuberculosis
Historically, tuberculosis (TB) has left a scar as mankind’s greatest infectious killer. With evidence of TB infection dating back nine millenia to a Neolithic Eastern Mediterranean settlement [1], this ancient disease meant almost certain death to those infected, a phenomenon spanning pre-antibiotic eras from the time of the Roman empire all the way to the beginning of the 20th century. But wi...
متن کاملMechanisms of drug resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
Tuberculosis is a worldwide health problem posing increasing threat with the spread of HIV infection and drug resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains. Consequently, control of this disease has become a significant challenge despite the availability of chemotherapy and BCG vaccine. Drug resistance for all first-line anti-tuberculosis agents and some second-line agents has been observed. Mor...
